The ¼”-20 camera tripod screw thread is the modern standard the world over, with basically all camera equipment using this thread for their base mount.
For lightweight accessories, you can assume they will provide this thread size to mount your gear. Heavier equipment often uses a 3/8”-16 thread size.
We at Dinkum Systems make arm tops that insert into the ¼" thread socket, and an adaptor for 3/8" size threads.
With our interchangeable components and ProPack kits, you can customize the arm length, the clamp size, and which connector is on each end – that’s the genius of the Dinkum SYSTEM!
Dinkum Systems mounts are increasingly useful as gear is becoming more compact and lighter.
The onboard camera lights that once needed 12 volts from a large camera battery are now LED and consume much less juice.
Action cameras are everywhere, surveillance cameras are often wireless and use tripod mounts, and every day we find new products that combine perfectly with our arms and clamps!
When we see exciting new products released, we always take a quick look to see how they are mounted and what their weight is.
It's very common for new products to avoid proprietary mounts because new product designers know that there is already an array of great mounting options.
So when innovative new products like Soloshot, Osmo, Mevo, or Nest arrive, take a look at their mounting solution - most likely it's compatible with the Dinkum Systems ActionPod and ActionPod PRO!
Don't consider your Dinkum mount ‘just’ a clamping monopod for your GoPro, point-n-shoot or DSLR camera; consider it a Soloshot Mount, an Osmo Mount, a Mevo Mount, a Nest Mount - or simply the best flexible, clamping mount for a myriad of new, lightweight gear!
